trios for two (2017)

New sounds explode from the vibrant duo of violist Molly Gebrian and one-man-band Danny Holt, who plays piano and percussion simultaneously. Over 20 composers have written new works for Holt’s ambitious Piano/Percussion Project, which situates the pianist amidst an array of percussion instruments, calling for acrobatic feats of multi-instrumentalism. Trios for Two ratchets up the intensity even further by adding violist Molly Gebrian into the mix. Music composed for the duo by Casey Cangelosi, Daniel Corral, Ingrid Lee, Karl Blench, Christopher Goddard, and Chiayu explores the unique possibilities of this unusual instrumentation, from rock grooves to frenzied cacophony to serene beauty.
